MISSION
IFIA, acteur essentiel dans le développement durable des pays forestiers africains
With its local local and international partners, members of national trade associations, Interafrican Forest Industries Association works to:
- Promote the sustainable management of forest resources.
- Increase added value in local industrialisation.
- Disseminate good forest management practice in the industry with the support of government, industrial and commercial partners.
Make available the practical experience of its members for the benefit of local governments, investors, research centres, environmental NGOs and local populations to help improve forest management.
In concrete terms in the field, IFIA’s actions through its members have resulted in :
The direct employment of more than 100 000 people in forest areas and industrial sites, and more than 1 million subcontracted jobs. The timber sector is generally the country’s first or second
largest employer;
Subsistence incomes for nearly 10 million people making their living from industrial forestry.
A better quality of life thanks to improved infrastructures, whether social (schools, hospitals, supply stations), technical or state, and creation and upkeep of forest and national roads,
infrastructures, ports and railways.
IFIA is supported locally and acts internationally.
