Created in 1996, IFIA is an association that represents the interests of the private-sector interafrican forest industries in the Congo Basin and West Africa.
IFIA is the only body recognised by all the players in the tropical timber industry. It groups some 80% of the forest industry through commercial and industrial trade associations.
It represents 300 member companies in the timber sector operating in 10 countries of Central and West Africa: Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Gabon, Central African Republic, Congo Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Links are being forged with Equatorial Guinea, Ghana and Liberia, countries with strong potential for the timber industry.
