To represent the interests of the private sector internationally, nationally and regionally, IFIA is supported by professional and trade associations, public and private institutions, research centres and all persons, natural or civil, interested in regulating the timber trade and advancing forest certification in the Congo Basin and West Africa.

IFIA works in close collaboration with Multilateral organisation.
