FOREST VALORISATION
A network of partners for sustainable valorisation of forest
Bearing in mind that “sustainable development” today is a global issue, IFIA wants to accentuate ambitions shared by the players in the African forest
industry. The association represents the private forest sector at the highest possible level before national, regional and international institutions and organisations. A sustainable
development based on wise management of forest resources.
IFIA members cooperate with local governments, sponsors, research departments, environmental NGOs and village populations to develop and promote methods of resource management in all areas: forest
regulations, tax systems, planning of activities, methods of reduced impact logging, reforestation, local added value industrialisation, continuing training and flora and fauna preservation thanks to
the development of new food sources such as breeding, fish farming and agroforestry.
By providing the players in the African timber industry with its support and contributions, the IFIA aims together with these latter towards the emergence of better
governance concerned with both deontology and economic efficiency.
And the emergence of a highly capable timber industry.
Promoting wood material in producing countries is the key to prosperous local industrialisation and the use of less known species.
Through their actions in the economic and social sectors in the countries where they are established, IFIA members play a leading role regarding industrialisation, job creation, continuing
training, implementation of social infrastructures on logging sites and industrial sites (community health centres, schools, etc.), technical infrastructures (roads, ports, railroads, etc.) and the
regional, national and international promotion of rough and transformed African timber.
